Atmospheric Soundings
GFS model Skew-T Log-P · Hodograph · Severe weather indices
What is a sounding? A sounding is a vertical profile of the atmosphere — temperature, dewpoint, and wind at every pressure level from the surface to the stratosphere. Storm chasers use them to assess instability, wind shear, and tornado potential before any storm develops.
This data comes from the GFS model, updated every 6 hours. It is a model estimate, not a radiosonde balloon observation — treat it as guidance, not ground truth. The full view includes a Skew-T, hodograph, and detailed explanations of every index. Pro feature.
